Just a thought: It's entirely possible that since Tony was under caution, he wasn't giving full attention to things that might be coming from unexpected directions. Maybe he was adjusting his belts or any number of things that drivers monkey with when they are cruising around under caution.

Would there be all this coverage, second guessing and pseudo-mind reading if anyone except Tony Stewart had hit that guy? IMHO, It would have been a sentence or two on the usual racing news publications and that's about it.

Some of the so-called reporting on this incident has been appallingly bad. Some quotes taken so far out of context as to be journalistic malpractice. Then you see other reports written by people who know nothing about racing & apparently don't wish to either. The average liberal "Crime Beat" or "Puff Piece" reporter needs to stop talking about this and let people who have at least some hint of a clue about racing cover it.

Sadly Stewart is skipping Bristol, once again Jeff Burton will be driving the #14. I am beginning to wonder if Tony will race again this season.

Honestly I doubt it~ In fact I heard a rumor that he is selling out and not going to race again? I hope he doesn't but I know he was sick over the incident at the Sprint track! I can understand the traumatic effect on him as well as the family of the young driver. Very unfortunate event for everyone!
I hope he can somewhat recover from it all though he will never get totally over it I am sure.

I grew up watching dirt track racing, and my school chums dad owned a car....As far as Stewart goes, I have never been a fan of his....I do think he was trying to throw dirt on the kid,and it got out of hand....Tony didn't want to hit him,he just wanted to show him up!Sad Tragedy! That's my take...

So, for better or worse, Tony is back this weekend.
I feel he should have stayed out until the investigation is completed.

That's a pretty large cloud hanging over the whole issue.
Opinions vary of course.

Innocent until proven guilty . Investigation ? You must have much more faith in the system than. I do . Tempers flare , and in any competitive sport , emotions run deep . You see it in all sports . Things are said , reactions are not only immature at times but sometimes down right stupid . After all , it's not a simple game , it's a life time commitment .

Kick some dirt up ? Looked to me like he tried to kick the back end away from the kid . This is something that could ruin a person . The death of a young man is enough in itself to deal with . There is no doubt this was an accident , no more no less .

From one of the videos I saw , there was a blue and white car in front of Tony that swerved and missed him and it,s possible Tony didn't see him in time and the kid was still walking out on the track .

This only my humble opinion . This just might be what Tony needs to get past this .

Prayers sent to all involved .

Stewart's had 2 bad mishaps in Sprint cars in the last 2 years. Time to stick a fork in the Sprint car racing and stick to his bread and butter.
