Default Any guitar players out there

I just bought a Fender Squier Strat "Standard Series" at a garage sale for $15. It is in decent shape but I want to rebuild it. Since I got it so cheap, I want to replace a few things to make it a better player. I haven't played seriously in quite a few years. I like to play hard rock, classic rock and metal. Here are my questions:

1. What pickups should I get? Especially in the bridge position. I want quality pickups.

2. What tuning pegs should I get? I want good ones that will stay in tune.

3. Should I replace the bridge? If so, what bridge should I get?

Any other helpful info would be appreciated.

play it before ya buy stuff. Tuners are probably ok. Grover tuners are great.
Bridge probably ok. Floyd Rose and Wilkensen(spelling?) are great.
Pickups are probably weak. Duncan and EMG are great.

I agree execpt that changing the bridge is probley not worth the time, money and effort it takes. Dimarzio is also another really good pick up company.
the bad things about cheap guitar is the really cheap wood used in the bodies ,but I have a squire strat that I started on and on mine the only upgrade I think it needs is new PUPs(pickups)

It has single coils - SSS

I doesn't stay in tune as well as I would like.

I may stick with the bridge but will definitely change out the "sustain block" in the trem to a brass one.

I personally only use the neck and bridge positions on the pup selector ,if i was in your situation I would replace the neck and bridge pups with either seymours or dimarzios and get new tuners and as you said a new block, should be fine after that.

My son is quite a good player. How did you get on with your build.
