My best friend is in the 173rd in vincenza,Italy, basic combat jumping that you learn in jump school is low altitude,and your chute opens almost immediately,he said depending on how heavy you are you are in the air between 15-45 seconds.

The only high altitude jumps he says are super high speed guys like Seals.

Whats the stats on you making it into the sp. ops..........at fifteen you better be more than fit, and mentally prepared to eat a lot of **** and ask for seconds.................................

At jump school they teach you static line jumps where you line up in one to two rows depending on the aircraft. And jump out the plane one after the other. The chute is pulled open by the static line

HALO is another jumps school

At a high altitude via free-fall parachute insertion. Two techniques are used: HALO (high altitude - low opening) and HAHO (high altitude - high opening).
