Another "Which Is It"
I never did understand this saying. When my daughter was in school, she played softball and she's a 'lefty'. My friend's husband from down the street wandered by and he was talking to my daughter about the advantages of being a left handed pitcher. He was telling her about the different pitches, etc. and at one point he said "If you throw a pitch like that the batter won't know whether to s**t or go blind. I must have gotten a funny look on my face as I pondered those two choices. He thought I was mad that he said the "s" word to my daughter and apologized. I told him it was okay to say that word but what the heck kind of choice is s**t or go blind? I mean, really, who would rather go blind than s**t?

Ahh a good BM or the ability to not have to see Chaz Bono or Rosie O'Donnell. I'll have to go meditate in the water closet on that one.

The meaning of it? It's meant to show that someone is so confused that a simple decision (who wouldn't rather sh1t than go blind?) becomes almost paralyzing.
In your daughters case, it would be 'swing or don't swing', but the batter, with a good pitch, would, even with a good pitch, stand there stunned, rather than making what should be an instinctive reaction.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

best option. at least you wouldn't have to leave the batter's box.

S**t or Go Blind
This is a phrase used when someone is confused and cannot decide between two choices. It is derived from the conundrum faced by a teenage male who lives in a house with one bathroom and a large family.

Hard choice. Am I constipated? Did I just see something that I wish I could unsee? Life is full of important decisions.
