I have not had good luck with ford products. So far, my best cars have been "foreign" small cars built in the US.

I had zero problems with my Dodge Dakota pickup.

Yeah... but they quit offering the straight six in the new ones! I guess the damn things were too reliable and the longevity is hurting new sales?

Why else would they drop it?

Tack

Because the new V6 offers better fuel economy, more power, and they EXPECT it'll be MORE reliable. It'll take a few years to tell though.

Over 2 million miles simulated on the dyno with no failure... Sounds great. It's not the real world though. We'll see in about 5 years, at the most, if it looks like there'll be major problems there...

Best engines I've ever owned in vehicles were strait 6s.

300 4.9 inline six 1990 f150.
Bought the truck 4 years ago for 1400.00. We just got back from a 1000 mile round trip with 700 miles towing a camper. We do this twice a year.

2.7 liter inline six in a 1987 bmw 325. The car had 153,000 stuck on the odometer when I bought it in 2003 for 1500.00. Drove the snot out of it until last November when I sold it to my nephew. We will see how long it last with him driving it.

I would vote for the 300 straight six as the best motor ever built. People have tried to kill it to no avail.

Had a slant-6. Speedometer/Odometer broke at 117k. Probably had two or three times that when it was led away...

Cars today are much better than they used to be. Especially better than American made ones were by and large. I reject GM and even Chrysler today although they have some pretty cars and trucks.

They took the money from the gobermint.

The gubermint shafted the bond holders and took up to 70% of salary employees retirement.

My guess anyway.
