Air rifle instead of shotgun?

Hey guys, I have been wanting a shotgun but I cannot find a deal on one right now and am not sure what to do, I could save my money or buy an air rifle I have been wanting. I can shoot the air rifle more often then the shotgun as well. What do you guys think?

Found a turkey ready mossberg 500c 20gauge for 250. Don't have any idea how that applies tho.

That is completely up to you. What do you think you'd enjoy more? What would you find more useful?

Have you checked around in pawn shops yet? I found an old New Haven 600AT (Mossberg 500 under different name) for less than $200 a few weeks ago at a local pawn and gun.

Both are useful tools. Do you have an actual gun of any kind yet? I have several air rifles and air pistols. But if you don't own anything yet, I would be thinking shotgun. Air rifle doesn't fit the home defense roll too well.

I have a Remington 597 and a ati 1911 .22 and my dad says he wants to get a hi point carbine soon. I looked at pawn shop but most near my house dont sell guns and most places are way over priced, even gun stores.

Id say weigh out uses of each, and disadvantages of each, then go from there. Id hold off and see if you can find a shotgun. Id to with what I would get the most use out of, but thats me.

if patient, shotguns can be found cheap....and for some reason....in our areas, shotgun shells have not been effected by the ammo crisis...they are everywhere and the same price. in fact, my shotguns are the only thing i have been able to bring to the range in the last few months, due to the ammo shortage.

the shotgun is the most versatile firearm. from hunting, to range, to skeet, to HD....i feel everyone should own 1 shotgun. you can get a good shotgun relatively cheap and shoot it pretty cheap as well. (bulk shells go for apx $20 for 100).

basic pumps go between $200-300 new generally. decent pistols and rifles are few and far between at that price.

again, if you want to own guns...imo everyone should have a shotgun.
