I ain't telling my age but I shot my first centerfire rifle 51 years ago. My grandfather had to help me hold it up.
Back then ear protection was for sissies. Now I regret it. Wear them plugs!

I wear my plugs everytime I shoot and I can still feel my hearing fading away...and like I said...I'm 21 lol! I think I might get a pair of muffs for the rifle range. Foamies are fine for those shotguns though.
