Cats are the only animals to choose to allow themselves to be domesticated. Though just how domesticated seems to be a little of a questionable thing..heh.

All cats are different. If this one jumped in your lap he/she has accepted you as their human and will do so until you don't allow them to anymore of it dies. Just give it some attention when it seems to want it...And it will let you know.
Feed it decent food. The cheapo crap doesn't have must to it.
If it's coming inside then it will need a litter box or you will hate the little surprises left for you in really odd places.
They will work a lot to keep their claws sharp. It pays to have something for them to scratch on. Their claws work like those razor knife blades that break off to get to the new parts. They claw on a surface to get the older worn claw out of the way to allow them to use the new sharper one under it.

Most cats are pretty low maintenance but when they want attention they will work hard to get it. Take care of them and they are great animals to have around.

I agree. I like to be an advocate and give a voice to those who can't speak for themselves.

Dogs have masters.... Cats have servants.

Well all I can say is 'if I could find a woman as loving and loyal as my cat I would be VERY happy!!!!'
Keep him and enjoy him.

I love both cats and dogs, but cats are more independent and "gentle", compared to dogs.
I have had quite a few, and as long as you feed them (ours live outside, so we don't need a litter box), they'll make great companions. Of course cats love to sleep, so they won't make to much noise. Cats are also some weird little critters. They like to sleep in the oddest positions/places, and they seem to do the strangest things.
Really hate it when people take about abusing cats, though. I've had a few gun owners tell me how they use cats as "target practice." That's about the time I cease conversation, before someone gets a fist to the face.

Most of ours live to be about 14-15. We had one live to be 18, almost 19.
It's funny, cause I read somewhere that indoor cats live to be 7, and outdoor cats live to be 4.
All of ours are outdoor, so we pretty much destroyed that "statistic."
