About to go back home to Sacramento, Ca and been looking into that very shooting range. Though I was wondering if by any chance there are any public areas where we can shoot without getting in trouble and or looking for like a rabbit or two to shoot? Pretty sure I'll end up checking out that range though being as it sounds great. Lol wish there were free shooting ranges though.....

Drive up to Sly Park take Immigrant pass rd toward Hwy 88, many places to shoot ...national forest...a good place is rd 1 mile past dam on right take about a mile and a big open area is there ...happy shooting

Thanks for the info, just about finished settling into Sacramento and even get to start work next week. First day off I'll try to mosey on up that way.

What's the general rule about shooting (carrying, possessing) on national forest land? That is, what am I allowed to do or not do, and what must I do?

Oh and Sac Valley is hands down the best range in Sacramento.
