Default Ab 1527

All Conservatives -- please forward this to anyone who you believe cares about the 2nd Amendment.

This will take you some time, and I know you are busy, but this requires your attention:

Our legislature is once again going over the top on the right to bear arms -- and I ask that you take the time to write and oppose this incredibly bad legislation. It is bad enough that the democratically controlled legislature has banned the open carry of UNLOADED handguns, effective Jan 1, 2012; now they are going to ban the open carry of UNLOADED rifles and shotguns unless YOU write these people and tell them you are opposed to such nonsense.

You can probably come up with better words than mine; my note to ALL 17 members of the Appropriations committee is below. Just be respectful ; > ; > . If you are member of NRA and / or CRPA, then say so. Site is below in NRA note---

Dear Assemblymember (name -- there are 17 members on the committee--see below)
I am writing to ask you to OPPOSE AB 1527. Banning the open carry of unloaded handguns was a bad decision.
Please do not add to more bad -- and probably unconstitutional – anti-gun laws. Banning the open carry of unloaded rifles
and shotguns is completely unnecessary, and , if you will, completely “over the top” legislation.
It is simply a fact that California’s law-abiding citizens do not need any more anti-gun laws.

Regards,

(your name)

>
> Yesterday, the state Assembly Committee on Public Safety was scheduled to hear two anti-gun bills, Assembly Bill 1527 andAssembly Bill 2182.
>
> AB 1527, introduced by anti-gun state Assembly Member Anthony Portantino (D-44), was amended to limit its scope and was passed in the committee by a 4 to 2 vote. AB 1527 will now go to the state Assembly Committee on Appropriations. As introduced AB 1527, would expand on last year’s ban on open carrying of an unloaded handgun to also include unloaded rifles and shotguns.
>
> On a positive note, AB 2182, introduced by state Assembly Member Norma Torres (D-31), was pulled from the committee agenda. AB 2182 would require that a person be arrested if they inadvertently attempt to bring a firearm through an airport TSA checkpoint and ban that person from entering that airport in the future.
>
> Please call AND e-mail members of the state Assembly Committee on Appropriation and urge them to OPPOSE AB 1527. Contact information for this committee can be found here.
>
> Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends and fellow gun owners across California and urge them to also call AND e-mail the Assembly Committee on Appropriations. This committee needs to know that California’s law-abiding citizens do not need any more anti-gun laws.

Looks like everything is progressing right on schedule! Be assured the 'Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence' plays a part in this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brady_Campaign_to_Prevent_Gun_Violence
Stated mission
From Brady Campaign's website:
"As the largest national, non-partisan, grassroots organization leading the fight to prevent gun violence, the Brady Campaign, the Million Mom March and the Brady Center are dedicated to creating an America free from gun violence, where all Americans are safe at home, at school, at work, and in their communities. The Brady Campaign, the Million Mom March and the Brady Center believe that a safer America can be achieved without banning all guns."[13]

In 1976[inconsistent] then chairman Nelson "Pete" Shields stated

"We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal.[14]
