I'm sorry -- what're we doing!?
And, why did we skip the matchlock, all the many flintlocks, and caplock stuff as well as cartridge era? I'm confused... Are you looking for specific dated things to post somewhere for this subforum (duh, Louis), like:

1399 -- Tannenberg Gun specifically dated as oldest Western (non-Chinese) handgonne. The castle was razed that year and the lead-ball loaded bronze gun named after it was at the bottom of its well.

Because nobody has mentioned it yet. I'm not going to go research it. If people think a date is important, they can post it.
