that is the typical answer, long on words, short on truth

the Ottoman empire was breaking up. 9 nations each thought they had a claim on 70 percent of it. the real world can not accommodate that math, and off we go.

the Ottoman empire was never mentioned in public school. 600 years of history, not mentioned in history class.

Here is a Forum on WWI several sections. It is not history lesson but It should contain some information you would like.
I'm going to look around it for myself also

well, it was very long reading! so that why i just linked the source.

the main reason i always read and heard over the years was the assassination of the Duke. but, if you delve deeper, that doesn't tell the entire story, nor does it give reasons before that led up to why the assassination was the triggering point. IMO, if the assassination was the trigger, then things were very volatile to begin with and there were deeper underlying issues. also did they use the assassination as justification that they needed to start a war?
