As movies go, the original was better IMHO. RIP Patrick S.
Got any pictures?

Basil Palidoris wrote the music for the original. An all time classic

classic soundtrack.

Who can ever forget the powerful emotion, when Robert faces off

against the assault chopper?

I know the truth of the matter is not as sexy or slick as Hollywood "drama", but here is what has brought about America's downfall (notice I used that verbiage in the past tense, meaning it has already happened):

1. Spending more money than you take in
2. Destruction of the family unit and subsequent loss of good moral character
3. Intentional subversion of the educational system to keep the average American ignorant

The causation of the downfall of America was the combination of those three things.

You can't maintain an economy where you spend more money than you take in. It doesn't matter what the economy is based on or how much money you start with.

You can't have a society of good moral character without a mother and father of good moral character. You don't need a village to raise a child, but you do need a mother and a father. This affects everything from the justice system to business practices to treatment of other citizens in the society.

In order to have a productive society, you need an educated and intelligent work force who understands why the hard work, prudent business decisions, and conservation of resources, both public and private, is necessary to continue society.

USA declares bankruptcy. Foreign investors foreclose on mortgaged properties.and demands disarmament of dissidents. UN steps in to maintain peace and stability.

Kinda dumb, as much as even liberals are pussies they still want to maintain control. We have 4,000 nukes, nobody is demanding anything of the USA!!!

Sounds like Ebay will have a crap load of used blue helmets with 'authentic' bullet holes in them?

I think the scenario layed out in the book "One Second After" of an EMP is much more likely. I'm not at all convenced that it would be such a bad thing to wipe the slate clean and start over.

Gun confiscation will not happen in my lifetime.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." You need to visit some countries where the slate was wiped. Oh by the way, it's never clean.

The US is effed up enough as it is and getting worse, not better, despite the best attempts to make appearances to the contrary.

No nukes or EMP's required; just a slow descent into inescapable debt, thanks to compound interest and irresponsible spending.
