A People's History of the United States
Anyone read this book?
I am now, and it is glorious. It is written by Howard Zinn and full of people's accounts of uprisings and rebellion, and the truth behind America's success through oppression and British colonialism.
READ IT.

This is the Left Wing blame-America-first anti-America history I move to other sections and hide behind other books at the book stores. A real POS and a still-published Lefty favorite. The title gives its lack of credibility away and as to its reviewer, well, I believe that might too...

That is the most angry hate America book I have ever seen. This is the bible of the Left. If you are a white American and you hate your ancestors you will enjoy this book.

It appears that Zinn was a nut job. Then again a lot of people consider us to be nut jobs. Read the book, learn how a left wing nut job thinks. It helps to deal with people if you know where they are coming from.

Would someone give some examples?
I personally think that a lot of American history needs to be re-examined and I do like history books with a different point of view. For example slaves aren't recognized nearly enough for their contributions to this country. At the same time everything needs to be in context. A book that focuses only on how bad slavery was and neglects how hard life was for everyone during that period doesn't give an accurate view of slavery or that period. I'm in no way trying sugar coat how bad slavery was just pointing out that everything needs to be put into context in order to actually learn anything. A book that focuses only on the bad things also fails to put things into context.
I'm guessing that I wouldn't like this book and that things aren't in context. So would someone please offer some specifics to keep me from buying a bad book?

Sure, in much the same way one studies Marx's & Mao's writings.
But you have to read Atlas Shrugged.
Interesting side note:

Zinn’s 1980 book A People’s History of the United States, one of the best-selling history books of all time thanks partly to the influence of pop culture powerhouses like Damon, Brolin, and the rock group Pearl Jam, is a litany of oppression and exploitation on the part of America’s white ruling class, a “raggedly conceived Marxist caricature” of American history, as David Horowitz calls it in his Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left. Zinn’s book is as ubiquitous in high school and university classrooms as sexual tension. His website proudly asserts that “no other radical historian has reached so many hearts and minds.” Well certainly, no other has darkened as many young hearts toward America and clouded as many young minds with utter disdain for facts and objectivity. Like his fellow academic cult figure Noam Chomsky and President Obama’s former associate and likely ghostwriter, unrepentant-terrorist-turned-radical-educator William Ayers, Zinn’s world view is powered by a relentless and hateful leftist fantasy: that the American government is and always has been racist, oppressive, warmongering, and ruthlessly exploitative, and that it must be subverted. And that subversion begins in classrooms all across America.

That Zinn fellow, a real philosopher poet that guy.
