The National D-Day Museum
Now called The National World War Two Museum, this New Orleans-based museum tells the story of what it takes to transform a nation of people into a nation of warriors. Opened in 2000, the museum talks about war in human terms and celebrates the American spirit through the personal stories and artifacts of the American men and women who sacrificed and prevailed in an epic struggle against tyranny. One of the museums' many moving belongings is a soldier's Christmas letter to "my dear little boys," a father struggles to explain war to his young children.

Went there last spring break. Absolutely loved it. I've been reading and learning about WWII since I could read but the museum truly made me see what they suffered through. Moving place, they were adding another building and I think they were gonna put a B-17 in it I think, they were also restoring a PT boat
