My grand father was the front gunner on a large airplane in the Air Force in WWII , My father was a Army ground troop and helicopter mechanic in Vietnam, I have tons and tons of slides that my dad had from Vietnam from pics he took and after some of the **** he saw that were on the slides , now I know why he told me he would pay for college if I stayed out of the Military . My oldest son who is about to turn 16 is telling us if he cant get a football scholarship to pay for him to be a attorney he is headed to the Marine Corps in 2 more years . The kid has tons of respect for for guns and loves to shoot anything you put in his hands to top it off he is a dead eye.

Great x3 grandpa fought in the civil war with NY troops as an officer I have no rank but on the military pension paper I saw it had him listed as an officer. Great x2 grandpa was in ww1 in France just a regular trench rat. Grandpa fought in ww2 and was stationed in Australia with the army air corp and was an e8 ncoic in charge of all the flak guns on the coast. Dad was originally a mm2 on the USS Charles P. Cecil then switched to Navy UDT and Ultimately Seals and did several tours in Vietnam in the Mekong river delta ao and I was A CPL in the US Army from 2001-2005 and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 for the invasion with the 4th ID and if you wanna go way back an ancestor of mine was given titles and land in the new world (walden NY and Marlboro NY for services rendered the queen in combat in the late 1500s

My Dad and three brothers were in the services during WWII. Oddly, only one went overseas. (European campaign.) Also, strange that of the 10 boys born to them I was the only one to go to Vietnam. So only two of 13 with combat duty.
The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.

We have a very long history of service in my family, I did my 21. Every generation has done so but thats over now, as Patriarch of our family, I likely wouldnt even try to get anyone I care about to join. I doubt anyone I know in my family will ever serve again, sad but true. The end of an era has come, serving a government bordering on tyranny is not something I can do any longer....
