Audie Murphy wounded 26/01/45

A True American Hero!

Audie Murphy was beloved by all. Especially by a Vietnam war hero, Roy P. Benevidez, belatedly given the highest honor by President Ronald Reagan some years later.
What's even more thrilling was Audie Murphy's wife was present at the White House with the president to witness the congressional award given to Roy Benevidez,
whom loved her beloved Audie most. She presented to him a photo of her husband to go with the congressional medal. Kudos to Audie Murphy and all those he inspired.

There are a few heroes who will pick up a gun and fight for freedom and liberty. There are many cowards who will protest and attempt to ban all guns. Those cowards do not realize when guns are banned so will freedom and liberty be banned.

Mr Murphy was an interesting fellow. He was so puny and sickly on the trip overseas, his CO offered him a REMF job, which he promptly refused.

It didn't take very long for him to show that what was on the inside was a lot more important than what was visible to his peers.

I had forgotten that Audie Murphy had been wounded during the war. I always enjoyed watching his shoot 'em up movies after the war. Another hero of WWII was Ernie Pyle (correspondent). This is purported to be a picture of his body on the battlefield after he was killed.
