Gun show Shooting: Tupelo MS 10/14/12
I am pretty sure this is where this thread should be posted.
We had a gun show in my hometown of Tupelo MS that resulted in the shooting of a 4 year old boy, and an older man, presumably his father. Not much information has been released, but it goes something like this.
Idiot drops an unsafe, loaded weapon he just bought. The bullet, presumably of a large caliber, went through a wall, fragmented and hit the child, while the adult was grazed the adult. The wounds (especially the adult) we're deemed "non life-threading." I am pretty sure the adult was released, and the kid was hospitalized.
(NOTE: I may have to update this later as information is released)
How is this going to impact the Tupelo Gun Show, or Gun Shows anywhere for that matter? America is already convinced Gun owners are unsafe and irresponsible, so how will this impact us?

I'm in Olive Branch, have heard nothing about it.
Was it a tri-lakes show ? I know they zip strip all guns from show attendees. You would think venders would be more careful as I'm sure 99.9% are.
I'll call my lgs guy, I bet he was fown there. Let you know if I find out anything.

My brother-in-law was standing at the table when the rifle went off. It was a 22-250. It went through two walls and struck an auto outside. I talked to the security guard that was sitting, checking firearms in the front, it missed him by about a foot. Rumors I've heard, say that it might be the last show they have! Hope not!

Ok, talked to lgs guy. He said there were two kids that were hurt and one adult. The bullet exited out a window and lodged in a truck in the parking lot.
Get this, the gun belonged to the organizer of the show ! smh
It was not a tri-lakes show.

It was at the furniture market. I don't pay enough attention to know what the specific show is called.

Yeah, it was at Mr. Hester's table. My Father-in-law said he saw the little boy as he ran up to his father and said, "I've been shooted", and he said he saw another guy that had been hit between the eyes with a fragment. They shut it down for about two hours, wouldnt let anyone in or out, till they finished an investigation.

How does that sort of thing even happen? Multiple layers of fail were at work here.
