Firearms Talk has covered the new double-barreled 1911 style .45ACP pistol since back in March. Produced by the new Italian firm of Arsenal, the interesting semi-auto when first introduced did not have an importer lined up on this side of the ocean, leaving US shooters to just look and drool. Well, it's looks like in 2013 you are actually going to be able to get one here in the United States.

The company has gained ATF approval to have Austin Sheridan import and sell their AF2011-A1's starting new year's day.

Arsenal Firearms official announcement and Press Release to Firearms Talk:
"On November the 14th, the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) has officially granted import permission and sale in the United States of America of the AF2011-A1 Second Century double barrel pistol, with a total score of 120 Points, according to Form 4590.

Arsenal Firearms Group proudly announces the official distribution to America of the whole line of double barrel firearms and dedicated accessories starting on January the 1st 2013, through the appointed US Importer of Record, Apex International LLC of Middletown, CT and according to a "Dealer Direct Distribution."

Arsenal Firearms also announces the USA launch of the whole line of firearms and accessories at the forthcoming Shot Show 2013 in Las Vegas, to be held between the 15th and 18th of January at the Sands Convention Center. Arsenal Firearms will welcome all the US dealers and followers to booth 12251, main hall.

The Company wishes to take this opportunity to thank warmly the millions of followers, enthusiasts, and supporters in the United States of America and worldwide: they are part of the dream and indeed our main reason to be."

Firearms Talk found out that the BATF lists Apex International as FFL Number 6-06-XXX-XX-XX-01622 FFL Type: Type 08 - Importer of Firearms Other Than Destructive Devices. Their address of record is 89 Broad Street, Middletown CT, 06457 and phone number is (860) 346-2500. They operate publicly as Austin Sheridan and through browsing their official website http://www.austinsheridanusa.com/ appear to be the US importer and distributor for many well-known companies including Blaser rifles from Germany, Norma ammunition from Sweden, Glaser from Switzerland, and Sako firearms from Finland. With names like that behind them it looks like Arsenal made a good connection.

While this seems to be an answer to a question nobody (at least nobody sober) ever asked, it remains a fascinating concept. I predict these things filling up action movies faster than the Desert Eagle did in it's heyday. It's doubtful I would ever buy one but I sure would like to be around when someone else runs their's!

I'd like to know how it operates. How are they getting the gun to only fire one round with each pull of the trigger? Potential NFA weapon?

Plus you'd have to have hands like bananas to run that thing.
